Memorable Quote: "The real heroes aren't the people doing things; the real heroes are the people NOTICING, paying attention."

This book was absolutely stunning! I can't put into words how much I loved it, how much it touched me. I laughed, I cried (a looot), I just LOVED it!! I really liked John Green's writing style, how it's slightly sarcastic but also serious and dramatic. I can't wait to read more of his books in the future.

I have to say though, my biggest problem may have been with how freaking eloquent John Green is. His (teenage) characters seem to give long, inspirational monologues, which while they were amazing, I've never met a teenager who talks like that. It was, in a way, my favorite and least favorite part. I loved it because they gave off so much hope and happiness, but it was definitely the most unrealistic part of Hazel and Gus, who were actually really realistic characters.

I also adored the real-life aspect of the book. Green didn't dumb things down like a lot of movies to reach a wider audience. The book was heart-wrenching and so much of it broke my heart and I wish it didn't happen but, hey, it's real life. These things happen. People get cancer. People suffer.

A final aspect I'll mention about the book is how insanely content Hazel seemed with the idea of dying someday. I really liked that part of her character since it's not often seen in literature. Often times, the main character would be scared to die or angry about it. Hazel, on the other hand, was okay with it and understood that someday her cancer would kill her, which is a really nice part of her character.

Would I recommend? Absolutely!
